Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my take-home pay?
Start with gross pay, subtract pre-tax benefits (traditional 401(k), health premiums, HSA), then subtract federal income tax from your W-4, Social Security (6.2%), Medicare (1.45%) and any state and local taxes. Pick your state above and the calculator does every step.
Which states have no income tax on wages?
Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming. Washington still withholds paid leave and WA Cares premiums.
Why is my real paycheck different from this estimate?
Employers use exact payroll tables, may round differently, and some benefits are handled differently by state. Differences are usually a few dollars per check — check that filing status, pay frequency and pre-tax deductions match your pay stub.
How many paychecks will I get in 2026?
Biweekly employees get 26 paychecks in 2026; weekly employees get 52. See our 2026 paycheck calendar for your exact paydays and three-paycheck months.

Yes: 2026 IRS brackets and standard deduction ($16,100 single), the $184,500 Social Security wage base, and every state’s 2026 rates and payroll programs, verified October 31, 2026.
