How the conversion works
Annual salary equals your hourly rate multiplied by the hours you work each week and the number of paid weeks in a year. A standard full-time year is 40 hours × 52 weeks = 2,080 hours, so every $1 of hourly pay is worth about $2,080 a year. Monthly pay is the annual figure divided by 12, biweekly pay is divided by 26, and twice-a-month pay is divided by 24.
These figures are gross pay. Federal income tax, Social Security (6.2%), Medicare (1.45%) and state and local taxes come out before you are paid. A single filer earning $52,000 keeps between 77% and 85% of it in 2026, depending on the state. Use the button above or pick your state below to see your exact take-home pay with 2026 tax rates.
Part-time, overtime and unpaid time off
For part-time work, enter your usual weekly hours. For unpaid leave or seasonal work, reduce the paid weeks per year. Overtime is not included in a salary conversion; hourly workers who earn overtime can add it in any state paycheck calculator, which pays overtime hours at 1.5× the regular rate.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert hourly pay to salary?
Multiply your hourly rate by hours per week and by 52 weeks. At 40 hours a week that is hourly rate × 2,080. For example, $25 an hour × 2,080 = $52,000 a year.
Is $20 an hour good?
$20 an hour is $41,600 a year before taxes at 40 hours a week. After federal tax and FICA a single filer keeps about $35,606 in a state with no income tax such as Texas.
Should I count unpaid time off?
Yes. If you take unpaid weeks, lower “paid weeks per year” (for example 50 instead of 52) for a realistic annual figure.
$30 an hour is how much a year after taxes?
$30 an hour is $62,400 a year before taxes. A single filer keeps about $52,318 in Texas or Florida (no state income tax) and about $49,714 in California.
